STUDIO POLICIES
Hello musicians! I am happy that you are inspired to pursue the development of your musical abilities. The following is a brief overview of how my studio operates. I hope you will find answers to some of your questions. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any other questions or concerns you may have.
Scheduling
At the start of each semester, and at the time a new student joins the studio, we will mutually agree to a regular schedule and lesson plan. To streamline this process each semester, please click here to complete a Semester Registration Form.
**Please note: lesson times are not guaranteed from semester to semester.** While it is often possible to keep your time if you prefer, I give everyone an opportunity to find an ideal time each semester, as I know family schedules change.
Various lesson times are available so that each student can study music at a time that fits comfortably within their busy schedule. You may be invited to participate in formal recitals, so that students can gain performance experience while sharing their accomplishments with friends and family members.
Lesson Plans:
Weekly 30-minute lessons: $375 monthly tuition
Weekly 60-minute lessons: $490 monthly tuition
Weekly 45-minute lessons: $455 monthly tuition
Twice weekly 60-minute lessons: $975 monthly tuition
Twice weekly 45-minute lessons: $915 monthly tuition
Single standalone lesson (up to 60 minutes): $150, paid at the start of the lesson
Monthly tuition is paid in advance by Venmo, cash, or check at the first lesson of each month. If paying by check, please write the student name on the check. If paying by cash, please enclose in an envelope that has the student and parent name written on the outside. Tuition is non-refundable.
Except with very young students (approx. 3 to 5 years old), I recommend 60-minute lessons, which are standard in musical education and make possible a balanced curriculum.
Please contact me if you would like to discuss alternate Lesson Plan arrangements.
Winter Programming
In order to accommodate family travel and other obligations during the holiday season, I will contact you in advance to discuss winter scheduling.
Attendance
During my musical education, I was taught that “if you’re early, you’re on time, and if you’re on time, you’re late.” Please adopt this as your motto as well. Lessons begin promptly at the scheduled time, so please plan to arrive or be prepared approximately 5 minutes early. Many families and I keep busy schedules, so beginning and ending on time will help everyone stay on track throughout their day.
Absence and Make-up Policy
I require 24 hours advance notice if a lesson must be missed. I will make my best attempt, although cannot guarantee, to reschedule a lesson that is missed due to illness or other extenuating circumstances. All rescheduling decisions are at my discretion. Lessons cancelled with insufficient notice cannot be made up. If it is necessary for me to reschedule a lesson, I will provide as much notice in advance as possible and work with you to find an agreeable rescheduling arrangement. Missed lessons cannot be 'credited' to future months.
Required Materials
Periodically, students will be asked to purchase books and scores. The books that I select are necessary for progress and should be thought of as an investment. Please bring all your books, a folder or binder, a notepad, and a pencil to every lesson to maximize the value of our time together.
For Parents
Parents are highly encouraged to attend their child’s lessons. This enables the parent to be my partner in the education of their child, as they will understand first-hand what is expected of the student and can help guide them through their practice at home during the week.
